We are well aware that an animal, ecological and cultural conservation project cannot ignore the people who live nearby, everything is linked! This is the reason why, from the very beginning, the Airavata foundation has been committed to helping the villages located all around Katieng forest.

Free Medical Aid

Our Vice President being a renowned neurosurgeon, it was only natural to do our best to bring modern medicine to the bedside of our ethnic Brao neighbors. This was done with the help of Khema clinic, which is one of the most modern in the capital, as well as with Ekates Dental Clinic.

Partnership with the Musical Association of Handicapped People

The Musical Association of Handicapped People takes care of the integration of young blind people into Cambodian society, we were overwhelmed to organize the field trip of many of them to Ratanakiri province so that they could get intimate with the elephants, touch and smell them. This experience was as moving for the young blind people as for the organizers!

Donation of supplies

Our friends from the Azilay company, knowing that we will always find good use for them, regularly give us everyday supplies: soaps, shampoos, toothpastes, toothbrushes… which we then offer to our Brao friends!

Mask donations

COVID affects everyone, Airavata has therefore made a point of distributing 6000 high quality masks offered by the company Anana Computer, in particular to provincial journalists who take a lot of risks while doing their job.

Partnership with Krou Yeung school

Ensuring that the elephant is not forgotten, rekindling the link between Cambodians and their most emblematic animal is our credo. This is why we are always glad to welcome students and raise awareness about Khmer culture, elephants, and environment protection.

Financial support for the forest community

To encourage villagers to no longer cut trees, we offer a yearly financial compensation for the use of the Katieng forest where our elephants are able to graze an abundance of natural and balanced food.

Tree plantation

Cambodia having suffered greatly from deforestation; we took the gamble of replanting the surroundings of Airavata whith the help of pupils from the surrounding schools. 2000 endemic trees, of the most endangered species, have been planted. Since then we have been jealously taking care of them.
